This policy paper was researched and written by Kate Washburn, Youth Program Director of the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development (WILD) for Human Rights and Shireen Lee, a volunteer and graduate student in Public Administration at San Francisco State University. Collectively, we have ten years of experience working with young women from diverse backgrounds to enhance their leadership skills and confidence, and improve their health. The paper was edited by Krishanti Dharmaraj, Executive Director of WILD for Human Rights, and members of WILD’s Youth Advisory Board.

This paper would not have been possible without guidance and assistance from Sarah Chamberlin, Kim Compoc, Stephanie Dunlop, Amel-Molly Gorani and members of the Youth Advisory Board.
This paper has been endorsed by B.A.B.E., Center for Young Women’s Development, Health Initiatives for Youth, MADRE, National Federation of International Immigrant Women’s Association, and NICE.
