What Are Human Rights?

Human Rights embody the values of equality, dignity and accountability.
Human Rights are dependent on one’s humanity as opposed to one’s identity or status. We do not earn them as a privilege, we have them by being human.

WILD for Human Rights defines the human rights approach as constructing conditions in society for people to be fully human. To meet these changing conditions, human rights must be broad and adaptive. They must come into existence when necessary or when demanded by communities. The human rights approach seeks to improve the quality of life of individuals thereby improving the quality of life of communities.
